FAQ
Q
What is NANSEN Magazine?
A
NANSEN is a print magazine about migrants of all kinds. Find out more about our magazine.
Q
What’s with the name?
A
Our magazine is named after Fridtjof Nansen, the Norwegian explorer and humanitarian who orchestrated mass relief for various groups of refugees following World War One and the Russian Revolution. He also created a document that allowed refugees to cross borders legally, now known as the Nansen Passport. We’re inspired by his spirit of adventure and his big thinking on migration. He also had a formidable moustache.
Q
What does NANSEN magazine look and feel like?
A
NANSEN Magazine feels a bit like a giant passport, with its friendly textured cover. Our magazine is the perfect size to tuck in your bag and take on a long journey, or pack in a suitcase ready for you to open when you reach your new home.

Q
Is NANSEN available as a digital magazine?
A
At a time when we’re struggling to hear each other above all that digital noise, our print magazine offers the chance to take a break from the screen and have a cup of tea or coffee with a migrant. To hear what they have to say about their own life.
NANSEN Magazine offers a personal, intimate experience of getting to know another human being. It’s available primarily in print and we’re proud to be part of a community of dedicated indie magazine makers.
Having said that, accessibility is important to us, which is why we are working with disability right campaigner Áine Kelly-Costello on a digital version of Issue 03, optimised for people with visual impairments and screen reader users.
Q
How much does shipping cost?
A
Shipping is included in the price of the magazine, so you’ll be charged the same no matter where you are in the world.
Q
I know a migrant whose story could take up a whole magazine…
A
Excellent! We love receiving nominations for future magazine subjects. Please get in touch.
Q
How do I submit a story?
A
Each issue of NANSEN Magazine revolves around one migrant and their story. If you have a story in mind that could fit this concept, send us an email.
Q
How can I become a stockist?
A
We are expanding our list of stockists across the globe and would be glad to have your store on the list. Please get in touch.
